Change of Parish Priest at St. Mary's

Dave Stickland is coming to the end of his time as our Parish Priest in Buriton.  He has been here for almost five years and has made a deep impression on the parish.  He and Carol will be sorely missed when they retire to:  14 Captains Row, King James Quay, Old Portsmouth.  PO1 2TT  (tel.:  023 9234 5342).

Our next Parish Priest will be Revd. Judith Bee, shown here with her husband, David.  She will be licensed to the Group Ministry on 8th September.  David will be a Reader so we will get two for the price of one!  They will both be most welcome.

When asked for a few words about herself, she wrote:  "I was trained at STETS (Southern and Educational Training Scheme), ordained at Petertide 2006 and have been serving as a non-stipendiary assistant curate in Hambledon since then. We have lived in this area for over 30 years. I am married to David, a local vet, and we have 3 grown up children, Anna, Rich and Rachael, one son-in-law, Chris, one grandaughter, Ellie, and one elderly Jack Russell cross terrier called Cini - short for Puccini! (you probably don't want to know about that!)".  Ed.:  I'm sure we do!

The Post Office in Buriton

The Post Office is open!

We were all there!

Tina Boyes: the lady behind the counter.

Ian Dummer: the new Postmaster.

It uses the kitchen as the service counter.

Revd. Dave Stickland learning something new.

The outreach Post Office in the Seward Room was opened on Friday 3rd April 2009.  There was brisk interest.  Transactions on the day included stamps, parcels and pensions but the service can also provide vehicle licences and even foreign exchange (US$ and Euros) and a whole lot more!

It will be open every Friday (except Bank Holidays or when a service is being held in the church) between 1.30 and 3.30pm.
